Feeling Overwhelmed?

Are you feeling overwhelmed with all you want to accomplish on your home? Thoughts swirl inside your head like a tornado: paint the ceiling and trim in bedroom 3, fix the knick in the kitchen cabinet, completely overhaul the mudroom, new tile in the powder room, new light fixtures everywhere...the list goes on and on...and on. It feels unmanageable and the weight of it all is enough to make you want to run for the hills and hide!

So what's a homeowner to do? GET IT ON PAPER. That's right. Walk through your house room by room and make a list of every single thing you want to accomplish in each room. It will not be fun, but it WILL BE FREEING. Why is this task freeing? Because it's no longer swirling around in your brain, causing you stress and anxiety. It's on paper, and your mind is already going to feel alleviated after you've dumped its contents (so to speak).
Now that you know what you have to accomplish (and yes, it's a long list), it's time to put it on your calendar. When do you plan on painting that ceiling? When are you going to fix that

knick in the cabinet? It's on paper and now you have it on your calendar, so that means you have A PLAN!!! You have an appointment with yourself to get that thing done when you said you would. If you get asked to go out to eat during that time....NOPE. You have an appointment with yourself!
Remember, you don't have to do it all yourself either. What can you get your kids to do? Your spouse? What's worth outsourcing and paying an expert? Hire professionals to do what they do best, freeing you up to do what you do best. That's efficiency and the hallmark of good planning. Be faithful to the commitments you make to yourself and finally see that project COMPLETE! Oh, the joy!
