Trash to Treasure

It's so true; one man's trash really is another man's treasure. I found this statue lady on clearance at a thrift store (my kind of pricing!). She looked quite different originally (see below), but I could see her potential. I pulled out all of my leftover paints I keep in the garage for "Missy projects" (insert evil scientist laugh), then lifted the drying paint with duct tape ('cause I'm fancy like that). Cheap to chic is how I roll. I figure saving in one area of my home frees me up to splurge in other places. Best of all, everything has a story to it. What's you cheap to chic masterpiece. Please share!

In searching for a "before" picture of my statue lady, I found this one to the left. My thrift store find was perhaps a bit uglier than this one sold on Hayneedle. Their price? $2,497.50. Let's hope she's hand carved out of Italian marble or something. Ouch! I paid around $10 for mine.
